Springtime in Westport

"Spring is when life is alive in everything" -Christine Rossetti

I love a couple that comes to us with a theme, a passion, or something sentimental that they absolutely love and want to incorporate into their big day.  So when I met Krista and Chris and they expressed their love of craft beers,  I knew this was a match made in wedding heaven!

On May 7th, Christopher and Krista exchanged vows at Bittersweet Farms in Westport, MA in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. The gorgeous bride walked down the aisle with a bouquet filled of blush pinks, light blues and dusty greens. Her handsome groom met her with a warm smile, pinned with a boutonniere of greens and fresh, seasonal blue and white florals which complimented his slate gray suit perfectly. Although the ceremony decor was kept simple and classic, the couple had a bit of fun with their reception decor. Half of the centerpieces were designed in wooden birch boxes with eucalyptus and beautiful florals spilling out while the second half of the tables had a variety of unique beer growlers, collected from different local breweries that the couple loved. Tables also were adorned with cool brass lanterns, which lent itself perfectly to the post and beams of Bittersweet's barn. This rustic-inspired celebration was the perfect refection of our bride and groom while highlighting Bittersweet's charming natural barn and grounds.

Bouquets of 2016: A look back

Now that our 2016 wedding season has come to an end and we are finally settling into the slower winter months here in New England, I find myself looking back at all of the beautiful weddings we had the pleasure of designing for this past year. Call me crazy, but I definitely go through withdrawal from not being surrounded by beautiful, fresh, and fragrant blooms during the week. Wedding galleries and a good cup of coffee are what cure my winter blues around here and help me to plan new and exciting design ideas for all of our 2017 brides.

One of the things I look forward to the most is looking back at all of the bridal bouquets I designed for our lovely brides. Each season is filled with its own list of gorgeous flowers as well as unique foliages and flowering and fruited branches that we love to incorporate. While 2016 focused heavily on the ever popular blush palette, I had the opportunity to work with some other favorites of mine including jewel tones like red and deep burgundy and even got to highlight soft peach tones.

Thanks to all of the amazing farmers I have partnered with over the past five years, these bouquets were nothing short of stunning! This year really topped the charts in the amount of different varieties I was able to source from my farmers, who work so tirelessly to give us designers the very best product as possible. Varieties of beautiful peonies and colorful dahlias along with countless amounts of annuals including anemones and ranunculus all filled our cooler throughout the season, allowing us to offer our brides the best of the best while choosing a more sustainable product. While our mission is to use 100% American grown flowers in all of our designs, more and more of the flowers I designed with this past year were grown locally, all from within a 23 mile radius. This is very exciting news and encourages me that not only is our mission working but our customers are seeing the value in buying locally, especially when it comes to their wedding.

So to celebrate this, we are kicking off the new year with a look back. Let's take a trip down memory lane and see all of the beauty that was grown and designed in the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2016.

Smiles and Sunflowers-Travis and Samantha

“Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. It’s what the sunflowers do.”
-Hellen Keller

A wedding worthy of a quote as poignant as this, HAS to be Samantha and Travis’ beautiful summers day on August 29th. With a wedding day filled with smiles, love, and sunflowers - what more could you ask for? The ceremony, held in the heart of Little Compton at the Congregational Church, was filled with pops of vibrant yellow sunflowers, and coastal blue/greens. The bride and groom, having fallen in love in the coastal town, tied in their own love for the ocean and the “country chic” theme throughout. Samantha’s bridesmaids were complemented with simple bouquets of full hydrangeas and greenery, as Sam carried a bouquet with gorgeous mini green hydrangea, cascading amaranthus, and vibrant cream garden roses all while highlighting the stunning sunflowers. The groom's simple sunflower boutonniere contrasted handsomely with his crisp white suit, harmonizing perfectly with his stunning bride. We can’t help but smile ear to ear and feel the warm summer vibes from looking back on this gorgeous home-town wedding.
