Perfect Peonies

Drumroll please for one of The Local Bouquet's most treasured blooms.......the Peony!

The peony is one of the industry's most coveted flowers by both designers and brides so when June approaches it is no wonder bouquets and centerpieces become filled with this gorgeous flower!

In June, as we walk through the rows and rows of lovingly planted and cared for rootstock, we feel overwhelmed with happiness and satisfaction knowing that we get to provide every one of our brides with the freshest, most gorgeous product possible. To us, the peony is the "kick-off" to the wedding season as well as the culmination of what it means to celebrate seasonal, locally-grown flowers, although we may be a little bias too!

Because each flower is only in season for a certain amount of time, our yearly joy and anticipation for each bloom is that much more special! Every June, in the peak of peony season, we are reminded not only of why we love this particular bloom so much, but also why we have made the "field to vase" mantra the core of our mission.

We love that we were able to showcase this particular bloom at Kevin and Nicole's glamorous wedding. This fun-loving and energetic couple were excited to mix genres by embracing a "romantic garden" meets "modern cityscape" theme. Nicole's bouquet was one of our favorites of the year, featuring blush pink, coral, and fuchsia peonies, all locally grown from Electric Moon Peony Farm in Rhode Island, just three miles from our studio.

The Villa in East Bridgewater, a dazzling contemporary venue, was decorated with corals, pinks, and rich summer greenery in both elevated glass designs and low and lush, gold designs, fusing edgy glamour with garden romance.

Thank you to Nicole and Kevin as well as all of our other amazing couples that have supported our philosophy and have joined us in celebrating each season's local flowers!

Seaside Glam

What better way to kick off your week than a beautiful ocean-side wedding in Newport, R.I.?Amanda and Craig were wed on a gorgeous Monday in July at Castle Hill. Amanda's décor style was inspired by both vintage and modern elements, each complimenting the seaside locations of  Little Compton and Newport.  A soft bridal bouquet was created in muted greens, blues, and creams and finished with a lovely gray ribbon, keeping the overall look classic and romantic.  This soft pallet gave way to bright summery pops of deep pinks and raspberries that were used in the bridesmaid's bouquets. The floral decor in the reception space was a marriage of both color palettes, using the brighter pink tones as well as the rich blue tones. This gorgeous summery mix of colors and textures highlighted the wide variety of seasonal blooms including locally grown snapdragon, bachelor button, larkspur, Queen Anne's Lace, cosmos, and zinnias. Elevated glass vessels and mercury glass compotes were used throughout the reception giving the decor a very classy and glamorous vibe.

Vineyard Vows

Imagine walking across a manicured lawn in a flowing gown, rows upon rows of grapevines sprawled out in front of you. Surrounded by family and friends on a private and serene seaside estate, your husband-to-be awaits expectantly for your arrival with a smile. This was the experience of being wed at the scenic Carolyn's Sakonnet Vineyard, a winery and event venue located in Little Compton, RI.  for Alexandra and Andrew this past June. From the rustic wine barrels adorned with overflowing blooms to the crisp clean cylindrical centerpieces designed in blues and creams, their wedding style was timeless and classic New England. Being the time of year, the floral designs were filled with beautiful Little Compton grown cream peonies. Blue bachelor button and sea holly, grown organically in Dartmouth, MA  also added the perfect hues of indigo for this intimate gathering.
